The San Antonio Chamber Choir is an ensemble of professional voices dedicated to enriching the cultural life of South Texas through artistic performances of the finest choral music. In our 10th season, the choir celebrates a history of excellent choral tradition and looks ahead to exciting prospects under the direction of new Artistic Director, Rick Bjella.
As the resident professional choral company of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, our artistic vision and growing presence in San Antonio is reflected in our diverse and engaging repertoire. During the 2016-2017 season, the San Antonio Chamber Choir will feature four major concerts — South of the Border, A Baltic Christmas, Mozart Opera Excerpts, and The Mozart Effect — that highlight a wide range of classic and contemporary choral pieces and will engage choral lovers and new audience members alike.
Our ensemble of professional-caliber singers, originating from San Antonio and the surrounding areas, is really what sets our choir apart from the many great musical groups the city has to offer. Many of our singers are professional performers or music educators right here in San Antonio! Under the direction of Artistic Director, Rick Bjella, these singers apply their musicianship and diverse experiences to elevate the choir to new heights of musical excellence.
Since our formation in 2003, this musical excellence has gained the choir national exposure. In 2013, the choir was featured at the prestigious American Choral Directors Association bi-annual conference in Dallas, Texas. Founding Artistic Director, Scott MacPherson, retired from the group after nine years of excellent leadership.
We are proud to represent the best singers our city has to offer and provide a rich musical experience. We are your professional ensemble. We are the San Antonio Chamber Choir.
